Tuvalu, located in the Oceania, is an island country, previously called the Ellice Islands. It is the world's 3rd least populated independent nation. It is also the 4th smallest nation, in terms of land, in the world, just a little larger than the Vatican City. The currency of the island is the Australian Dollar. It is a member of the United Nations and the Asian Development Bank. The main economic activities are subsistence farming and fishing. Government of Tuvalu generates revenues through the sale of stamps and coins. Remittances from citizens working abroad also help the economy. Main industries are fishing, tourism and copra. |
